Hippo-Skin
Intractive Installation
Interactive installation design for the era of the
Post-Anthropocene:
With intense ultraviolet radiation, human need an ability as same as Hippo-Skin which can resist UV light.
The ability of the skin aims to protect human from ultraviolet radiation is shown through the installation, which makes people to think about the destruction of the ozone layer. It also give audience a chance to touch and experience this "skin".

Post-Anthropocene
The thinning in the ozone layer was caused by increasing concentrations of ozone-depleting chemicals. These chemicals can remain in the atmosphere for over a century.
In the Post-Anthropocene, we living in an environment, which the ozone hole are harmed by the solar radiation.
What if
humans continue to use manufactured chemicals: ozone-depleting substances (ODS) without limits.
Then
global ozone may decrease at a greater pace, harmful wavelengths of ultraviolet light will pass through the Earth's atmosphere. People need to look at the skin's ability to protect itself from ultraviolet light and resist radiation.
The project presented through models, interaction installation, and combined with the animal's special sensory abilities. It is absolutely not about prediction, but asking what if..., speculating, imagining, to create an ability that can protect humans from UV damage in the Post-Anthropocene. Ideally, one that reflects the environment we are living in. Simulate how humans cope with the intense UV light under the ozone hole.
